Physical Conditioning (PC) |
|
One of the biggest challenges of BMT and one you can start preparing for today is PC. Remember to get in shape safely! You should consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program. If you haven't already started your own fitness program, start one immediately. If you're not an athlete, or, you've been pretty dormant during the past few years, it can catch up to you real quick during training.

Great emphasis is placed on physical conditioning for ALL Air Force personnel (trainees, enlisted, and officers alike). You will be expected to meet certain physical standards during your career in the Air Force. During BMT you (and all your flightmates) will undergo physical conditioning 6 days a week. During training you will be tested to ensure you meet the minimum standards before you graduate.

There are two physical conditioning assessments during basic military
training (BMT). An
assessment is conducted the first weekend you arrive, and a final
assessment is conducted during the fourth week of training. You must
pass the final assessment in order to graduate from BMT. |

Physical conditioning (PC) is scheduled at least 6 times during each week of training. PC consists of running (amount depends on the week), strength training (for example: sit-ups, push-ups, deltoid lift, biceps curls, triceps extensions, and more), and stretching exercises. PC requirements consist of a timed
two-mile run, sit-ups, and push-ups.
